Explore Santa Rosa
We would be lying if we said the Santa Rosa Marathon was the only thing in Santa Rosa that you need to soak in while you are in wine country. Located in Sonoma County, with over 300 vineyards to choose from, you are not only surrounded by wine – but food, brews, and views galore. In fact, the Santa Rosa Marathon could just be your excuse to come and explore all the area has to offer.
Views:
Kayak, canoe, or paddle board down the Russian River – you know, if your arms are feeling a little jealous of all the work your legs have been doing running a race. Feel like taking in the sights, instead? Slow down at Armstrong Redwoods State Park so you can see the tallest and oldest of redwoods – and remind yourself that no feat is too small – or big. Need some coastal scenery? The ocean is waving you over. Close to the coast and Bodega Bay, you will be able to have a side of “advent-shore” with your run.
Vineyards and Brews:
Congratulate yourself! You just ran a race. Not only does Santa Rosa have over 495 wineries to pick from to cheers your crew, but it also extends to microbrewers to offer you the variety of celebration you crave. Some of our favorites? DeLoach Vineyards, Russian River Brewing Company, Iron Ox Brewing or Third Street Aleworks – but you decide and let us know where else is the best to go!
Neighborhoods:
Take a stroll through history and show off your medal in the different neighborhoods of Santa Rosa! Head over to the Historic Railroad Square – walk, shop, or dine (can we suggest Nimble & Finn’s for artisanal ice cream or gourmet grilled cheese – we know you need to replace those calories you just raced away). Or immerse yourself in the West End Neighborhood and Luther Burbank Home and Gardens – offering a pretty opportunity to see historical architecture and landmarks!
We can’t cover it all, but Visit Santa Rosa does. Visit their site and tailor your visit based off whatever your heart desires. And trust us when we say there is something for everyone. Run, Explore, Drink – and be sunny in Santa Rosa. We can’t wait to see you there.
